Summary
The game starts in exploration mode, the party should choose a starting location and resolve a
exploration round.
Exploration Rules
The game lasts for a maximum of 10 rounds of exploration, by which point the party must return to
their start point.
Each Round:
- For an unexplore tile, roll on the relevant location table and mark the map
- Roll on the encounter table and resolve the encounter
- Choose which neighbouring tile to move to
After 10 rounds:
The party sacrifices any loot they have obtained, but keep their xp. the game then ends
Combat Rules
combat lasts at most 6 rounds, during each round 1 character and 1
monster engage, players go first.
Each Round:
- decide which character is engaging, a character may not engage on consecutive rounds (unless they push
themselves)
- creatures engage the character that engaged, unless stated otherwise.
- creatures engage left to right, looping around.
After 6 rounds or creatures defeated:
- if creatures remain, each causes 1 harm, to be divided as players choose.
- mark 1 xp for each character.
- any character that did not engage suffers 1 harm.
Attributes
Each character has 3 attributes ATK, DEF, VIT. when creating a character
assign +1, +0 and -1 to these attributes. These attributes are unchangable.
- ATK used when making attack rolls
- DEF used when making defense rolls
- VIT maximum harm and stress thresholds
Harm and Stress
Characters track harm and stress separately.
- Harm when harm equals 10+VIT the character is killed
- Stress when stress equals 10+VIT the character suffers 1 harm and stress is
reduced to 1 less than 10+VIT
Pushing Yourself:
At any point you may spend 2 stress to:
- Add +1 to ANY roll before it is made
- To act on the next round, even if you acted on the previous one.
Escaping
At any point the party may return to their starting tile to end the game and tally their final score.
Downtime
Between adventures characters may spend xp to advance their playbooks.
characters automatically heal all harm and stress between adventures.
